The Mathematics Study Program of FMIPA Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN) successfully held a Guest Lecture titled “Matematika dan Bencana, Bestie or Enemy?” on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the UNTAN Conference Building, E-Learning Rooms 3 and 4. Attended by 108 students and faculty members, the event featured Danang Teguh Qoyyimi, M.Sc., Ph.D., from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, he thoroughly explained how actuarial approaches and mathematical models are quantitatively applied to predict risks, design financing policies, and mitigate disaster impacts sustainably in Indonesia. Aside from fostering interactive discussions on the real-world contributions of mathematics, the event also included a brief introduction to UGM’s Master of Mathematics Program.
