Community Service of the Bachelor Programme in Mathematics FMIPA Untan: Training in Creating Excel Dashboards and Infographics to Improve Data Visualization Skills.​

To fulfill one of the three pillars of higher education, Community Service, the Mathematics Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Tanjungpura, conducted a training session titled “Optimizing the Use of Excel: Microsoft Excel Dashboards and Infographics.” The event occurred on Thursday, 11 July 2024, at the Entikong Class II TPI Immigration Office, Sanggau District, West Kalimantan. The objective of the training was to educate staff at the Entikong Class II TPI Immigration Office on how to process data into more engaging and easily understandable dashboard and infographic displays. As a result, the data managed can be presented more effectively and informatively to the public. The training was held at the Entikong Class II TPI Immigration Office and was attended by 8 participants from the Entikong Class II TPI Immigration Office staff.

The event began with opening remarks from Dr. Yundari, M.Sc., Head of the Mathematics Department at FMIPA UNTAN, who emphasized the importance of community service as part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The Head of General Affairs at the Entikong Class II Immigration Office, Corryna Allen, S.Pd., also gave a speech and expressed her hope for further activities from the mathematics department.

 

Yudhi, M.Si., a lecturer from the Mathematics Program at UNTAN, served as the main presenter for the training. He presented material on “Optimizing the Use of Excel: Microsoft Excel Dashboards and Infographics.” Participants were enthusiastic about the training and provided positive feedback, as evidenced by improved pretest and posttest results. The event also included a group photo session, a question-and-answer session, and the presentation of a plaque to the Entikong Class II Immigration Office. Dr. Yundari hopes that similar activities can continue to be held to strengthen the relationship between the university and the community. Mrs. Corryna also welcomed the activity and expressed her hope for further activities from the Mathematics Department that could benefit the staff of the Immigration Office. This training improved the participants’ skills in using Excel and strengthened Universitas Tanjungpura commitment to serving the community.
